Every year, we work with an incredible group of not-for-profits organisations across Aotearoa including charities, philanthropists, community trusts and organisations to prepare communities for emergency events and the devastating impacts that may follow.
These special organisations make it possible to extend our reach into communities that need our services the most.
We have an MOU with AREC to reflect our shared commitment to building community communications resilience across Aotearoa.
Through this partnership we work with AREC groups across all 16 CDEM regions to deploy radio equipment into communities, deliver training on how to use and manage communications networks and support radio network testing and management.
Taskforce Kiwi is a veteran-led not-for-profit organisation that deploys teams of former defence force personnel to assist communities with recovery following disasters.
We’ve had a partnership with Taskforce Kiwi since 2023, and have worked to raise funds to support their deployment into communities following emergency events. In 2024, FIRST72 helped deploy Taskforce Kiwi into Wairoa following the severe flooding.
FIRST72 has collaborated with RRT NZ on community events, including a Community Response Expo and EPOD community open day, bringing our expertise together to help communities understand how to be better prepared.
FIRST72 has collaborated with NZRC on community projects and the delivery of training to community groups across NZ. They have generously donated a number of psychological first aid courses to FIRST72 that we have deployed into communities.
FIRST72 has worked with Rural Support Trust across NZ to support rural community resilience initiatives for farming and rural communities at risk from severe weather events.
FIRST72 has partnered with Neighbourhood Support to train community volunteers and support household preparedness, including the supply of grab bags and emergency kits.
Toi has funded the delivery of an EPOD to an isolated marae in Taranaki, in partnership with the South Taranaki District Council and Taranaki Civil Defence.
Lion has funded the deployment of community hub kits to vulnerable communities across NZ including in Northland, Coromandel, Ruapehu, Nelson Tasman, Christchurch and Ashburton.
ECCT has supported various community projects that we have been involved in including the deployment of Taskforce Kiwi into Wairoa in 2024.
Rata has supported the community resilience work of FIRST72 in the South Island, including through the Ngāi Tahu EPOD deployment across Canterbury and Southland communities.
Foundation North has supported various community projects that we have been involved in across Northland and Auckland.
Pub Charity has also supported various emergency preparedness projects across NZ.
FIRST72 has partnered with ADRA to deliver a 300-person emergency preparedness workshop, and we are proactively working together on a church preparedness programme to build the capability of ADRA’s network to respond to emergencies.
FIRST72 has partnered with PBCL to develop customised communications kits, designed to be deployed across the Pacific region and used by the NZ High Commission and TVNZ in the event of an large-scale disaster across the Pacific region.
FIRST72 has worked with the Sunrise Foundation to deploy critical communications equipment for remote marae in Gisborne.
