EPOD Deployed in Tinui: A New Chapter After Cyclone Gabrielle

We are proud to announce a significant milestone for the small rural community of Tinui, near Castlepoint, which faced catastrophic impacts from Cyclone Gabrielle in early 2023. This devastating event caused widespread infrastructure and property damage, severe flooding, displacement, geographic isolation, and significant social trauma within the local tight-knit community.

Thanks to funding from the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), and the dedicated efforts of members of the Tinui Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade, the Tinui community now has its own independent, reliable, and self-sufficient emergency response and resilience solution. The EPOD, deployed next to the Tinui Rural Fire Station, not only supports the local population, it also enhances the emergency response capabilities of the volunteer rural fire brigade, providing vital resources and support in times of need.

Our partnership with Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) and the Tinui Volunteer Rural Fire Brigade underscores the importance of community-driven initiatives in enhancing local resilience. By equipping Tinui with the necessary resources and infrastructure, we are helping to safeguard this community from future disasters and promote a sense of security and preparedness.
