At FIRST72, we are dedicated to empowering communities with the tools and resources needed to effectively respond to emergencies. We are pleased to announce a significant development in our efforts to bolster disaster preparedness: the delivery of three further EPODs to the Wairoa District. Organized by the Wairoa District Council and funded by MPI (Ministry of Primary Industries), this initiative marks a crucial step forward in enhancing local resilience.

The delivery includes two smaller, 10-foot ‘QRS’ models, designed for easier transport and rapid deployment, alongside a larger 20-foot EPOD model. Each EPOD is equipped with essential contents aimed at sustaining communities during the critical initial phase of an emergency. Mayor Craig Little and the Group Manager for Community Services and Development, Juanita Savage, were present for the official handover ceremony, underscoring the importance of this initiative for the Wairoa District.
