Every year, we work with Civil Defence groups to help prepare communities for emergency events and the disrupting impacts that follow.
We understand how emergency management operates in New Zealand, and how to deliver in partnership with Civil Defence groups and local councils.
FIRST72 has worked with Northland Civil Defence to support community preparedness and resilience across the region.
We have supplied emergency equipment and kits to community hubs and marae, delivered training to community volunteers, and attended the annual Northland Civil Defence conference.
FIRST72 has worked with AEM to strengthen the community resilience of its 200+ community hubs and marae.
We have collaborated with AEM on various projects including the delivery of 2 SMART EPODs (including one that was delivered in partnership with AMI Insurance).
We have also supported the implementation of Tier 3 communications networks for community groups and equipped + trained marae and hubs from Piha to Great Barrier Island and everywhere in between.
FIRST72 has worked with Waikato Civil Defence and Waikato Regional Council to support the development of EPOD and marae resilience programmes across the Waikato region.
FIRST72 has worked with Bay of Plenty Civil Defence on community resilience initiatives including a marae resilience programme in Rotorua delivered in partnership with local hapū and funded by NEMA under the CDEM Resilience Fund.
FIRST72 has worked with Taranaki Emergency Management, Taranaki Regional Council and Ngā Iwi o Taranaki on marae preparedness programmes across the eight iwi of Taranaki, including a pilot EPOD project for an isolated marae delivered in partnership with South Taranaki District Council and Toi Foundation.
FIRST72 has worked with Manawatū-Whanganui Civil Defence and Whanganui District Council on community EPOD projects, supply of communication equipment, and submission of a marae resilience project under the NEMA CDEM Resilience Fund.
FIRST72 has worked extensively with Hawke’s Bay Civil Defence since 2022.
We have continued to work closely with HBRC, Napier City Council, Wairoa District Council, Hastings District Council and Central Hawke’s Bay District Council on community resilience initiatives, including the ongoing development of community hubs and marae.
FIRST72 has worked with Nelson Tasman Civil Defence on developing a solar-powered Emergency Coordination Centre EPOD. A project application for this has been submitted to the NEMA CDEM Resilience Fund.
FIRST72 has worked with West Coast Civil Defence and West Coast Regional Council to deploy 3 EPODs to operate as alternative emergency coordination centres across the region. We have also deployed an additional 3 EPODs to marae and community groups.
FIRST72 has worked with Canterbury Emergency Management on the deployment of 22 EPODs in partnership with Ngāi Tahu in 2024.
FIRST72 has worked with Otago Emergency Management on the development and equipping of community hubs, supply of emergency equipment and preparedness planning for an Alpine Fault 8 earthquake event.
FIRST72 has worked with Southland Emergency Management on the EPOD deployments in partnership with Ngāi Tahu.
FIRST72’s EPODs enable Civil Defence groups, councils and communities be completely self-sufficient during the first 72+ hours of an emergency.
Bulk emergency supplies, customised kits and tailored equipment caches to support Civil Defence staff, EOCs and community emergency hubs.
Critical communications systems – including Tier 3 digital radio systems, satellite and Starlink – that keep communities connected to Civil Defence during emergencies.
Community hub training, first aid, CIMS, team leadership, flood response and other specialist skills delivered to Civil Defence staff, volunteers and community groups.
Projects, programmes, workshops, events and grassroots support that help Civil Defence groups build prepared, connected and self-sufficient communities across their region.
Rapid deployment of equipment and specialist support to assist Civil Defence groups and councils responding to and recovering from emergency events.
We’ve also partnered with Civil Defence groups and councils to provide co-branded or white labelled FIRST72 products as part of their emergency preparedness and/or community resilience strategy.
